What is the Purpose of Coaching?

A client of mine thanked me after our coaching session the other day. She said:

“When it comes to investing in ourselves, we often struggle with how we can set money aside for it; but each time I have done that, I’ve recovered the fees many times over, and also moved closer to my personal growth goal. I am lucky to have you as a friend and as a coach!”

Honestly, so many of us struggle with investing in ourselves. Money and cost are the top reasons people have for not getting help.

I’ve invested thousands of dollars towards my own growth. Probably the most money I’ve ever spent on myself, and I continue to do so. Not because I’m rich in money – because believe me, with the available free content out there, we need little to no money to get started in self-help today – but because I felt that the content I chose was the only way to unlock my potential as a mom.

The same client asked me at the end of our session if she should continue. My response to her was:

“I’m not sure that I can answer that question for you. I would say that, if I’ve inspired you at all, that I am where I am because I’ve always kept working towards my growth, one step at a time.

You see, what coaching has done for me is that it’s transformed the way I communicate with Jian. I went from a state of “already always listening” – where I was thinking of what to say even before Jian finished his sentence – to deep listening and asking thoughtful questions, which has brought clarity and openness to my mind. It’s enabled me to become a better listener, which resulted in him feeling comfortable sharing more of what’s on his mind.

If I knew this when I first embarked on this conscious journey, I may have expedited my learning even faster.

Coaching, to me, is about…

  1. Getting the support to learn how to clear my mind, rather than distracting myself.
  2. Learning how I can work with my thoughts in a more functional way, rather than suppressing my thoughts.
  3. And most importantly, to get into a relationship with my feelings, rather than allowing them to take over me.

I help moms understand their emotions, rather than identify with them. In doing so, we reveal what the messages beneath the emotions are, so that we can make decisions that are not driven entirely by our feelings.

Are you ready to transform the way you show up and communicate with your children?

It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. If you take a one-on-one coaching session with me, I can guide you gently into seeing what’s blocking you from communicating compassionately with your children. The individual attention will guide you into further inquiry so that you can find the answers you’re seeking within yourself.
