Here\u2019s a story\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Many of you know that I am an event designer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year I was working with a bride whose uncle was quite involved in the design process. He was my main point of contact, so naturally, we spoke often. I recognized very quickly that he was on a conscious journey himself, and so we had much to talk about.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A couple of weeks before his niece\u2019s wedding, we had three weddings for another client. For any of you who know anything about Indian weddings, you know that amounts to approximately fifteen events. Needless to say, I was very busy!<\/span><\/p>\n

When he called\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Uncle: What\u2019s wrong? You sound frantic.<\/span><\/p>\n

Me: Yeah. I\u2019m busy. (jokingly)Sometimes I wonder if it\u2019s easier to work for someone else!<\/span><\/p>\n

Uncle: Let me tell you something. Your nature is your nature. It is invincible. It\u2019s who you are.<\/span><\/p>\n

Me: What do you mean? Can you say more?<\/span><\/p>\n

Uncle: You are a natural leader. You could have been born in a home of poverty, and with your strong nature, you may have even been a gang leader for all you know. But you were born in a home of business owners, and so you\u2019ve manifested as a leader in this industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Me: WOW!<\/span><\/p>\n

I thought that was so profound. I had never thought about it that way. Not because he said I was a leader – because I feel we are all leaders in our own right – but because what came up for me was that the energy that I showed up with as an event designer (fast-paced, bold, intense) was the same energy that I showed up with in other areas of my life. Some of those ways have served me, and some haven\u2019t.<\/span><\/p>\n

I reflected and realized that, from a sensory level (sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch) my preferences were intense. I expressed myself that way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As if the universe had it perfectly set up, I had the exact opposite child. He\u2019s sensitive to all his senses and cautious to let people into his space, deeply empathetic and humble. It was no surprise that the purpose of my relationship with him was to use it as an opportunity for us to elevate each other\u2019s growth.<\/span><\/p>\n

My intensity was a mismatch for him in some areas. In order for his own innate intensity to bloom, I needed to soften my traits and attune to him so that he felt less of a contrast. And as he began to believe he belonged, he modeled empathy and humility, encouraging me to balance myself out in turn.<\/span><\/p>\n

In other areas, we were in alignment, and that\u2019s where we noticed each other\u2019s state of flow. It was effortless and we connected deeply.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s important to know that who we are is our nervous system; our innate energetic traits. In order to truly understand who we are as individuals, we must do the work to understand, unlayer, uncover, shed, and make sense of all the constructs and identifications of who we think we are, whether or not they serve us. That will lead us to our true nature; our consciousness.<\/span><\/p>\n

When we know who we are, we can create the conditions to understand and support our true nature. In doing that, we begin to make choices that align ourselves with environments, people, relationships, and situations that resonate with that way of being. We begin to work with our true nature, and our experiences begin to feel good; and so we are able to begin to co-create with the true nature of others.<\/span><\/p>\n

I remember when I found out I was having a baby boy. I fantasized about how I would rough-and-tumble play with him. Wrestle and laugh until our bellies hurt.<\/span><\/p>\n

When he was two, he would laugh whenever I would tickle him, which left me thinking he enjoyed being tickled. Except, immediately after we stopped, he would kick or bite me, asking me to stop. It left me confused.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What was happening was that he was sensitive to the tickle, which made him laugh, but he didn\u2019t necessarily enjoy it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Knowing your energetic traits and how sensitive you are matters, because it helps you support and create conditions where you and your children can thrive.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
